Abbot's Tower

An L-plan tower-house located a half-mile (1 km) northeast of New Abbey and 6 miles (10 km) south of Dumfries in the old county of Kirkcudbrightshire, the Abbot's Tower dates from the middle of the 16th century. It was built by one of the last abbots of Sweetheart Abbey and comprises three storeys and a garret. The tower had become thoroughly ruined but was restored to habitation during the 1990s.
