West Lighthouse, Tayport

Lying on the southern shore of the Firth of Tay, a mile (1.5 km) northwest of Tayport, the white tower which comprises the West Lighthouse (also known as the High Light) was built in 1823 by noted lighthouse engineer Robert Stevenson (1772 - 1850). It was heightened to 24m (79 feet) later in the 19th century and a balcony added. The lighthouse is now owned and operated by Forth Ports Plc.
