Built as part of the redevelopment of Greenock's docks, the Waterfront Leisure Complex is located in the heart of the town and represents Inverclyde's flagship leisure centre. It comprises a futuristic structure with enormous concrete ribs, reminiscent of an upturned ship, connected by a curtain of glass. Its northern aspect gives spectacular views over the over the River Clyde.
Marketing itself as 'a unique combination of ice and water thrills', the complex includes two swimming pools (a leisure pool and 25m training pool), an outdoor lagoon, flume, tyre ride, tropical wave pool, 'lazy river' channel, bubble beds and pool-side spa. Visitors can swim between all of the pools. There is also an ice-rink for skating and curling, together with a fitness studio, health suite, dance studio, bar and coffee house. The ice rink has four curling lanes and is capable of being floored and turned in to a concert or banqueting venue which can hold up to 1000 people.
