A small hammerhead-shaped peninsula, Eilean Duirinnis projects into Loch Etive 1¼ miles (2 km) north of Taynuilt. Once a small island, it formed a narrowing of the loch which became the natural location for a ferry to connect with Bonawe on the southern shore.
