Thieves Holm
An islet at the entrance of the Bay of Kirkwall, to the west of Car Ness, on the north coast of the Orkney Mainland, Thieves Holm lies 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Kirkwall. Reaching a height of 6m (20 feet) above sea level, it is believed that this islet was home to banished thieves and witches. It is now populated by colonies of Cormorants, Kittiwakes and seals.
