Pitlochry High School

Located on East Moulin Road, a half-mile (0.8 km) north northeast of the village centre, Pitlochry High School is a combined nursery, primary and comprehensive secondary school catering for pupils up to the age of 16 from Pitlochry and the surrounding area. Opened in 1976, the building comprises flat-roofed blocks of one or two storeys. The Nursery Department was rebuilt and refurbished in 1995 to provide a modern, bright and spacious environment. The Primary Department comprises of two large open plan areas accommodating younger pupils and older pupils respectively, divided into classes of around 22 children. The Secondary Department is housed in a two-storey block. It addition to its own primary school, the High School draws pupils from primary schools in Struan, Blair Atholl and Logierait. Pupils intending to complete a 5th and 6th year usually transfer to Breadalbane Academy in Aberfeldy, with some alternatively attending vocational courses at Perth College UHI. The assembly hall, learning resources centre, dining area and administration facilities are shared between the schools. Adjacent are playgrounds and sports fields. The school is non-denominational, and its roll comprises 45 pupils in nursery, 200 in primary and a similar number in secondary (2013).
