Garmouth Viaduct

A massive former railway viaduct which crosses the River Spey a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of Garmouth in Moray. Built in 1886, the size and strength of its lattice-girder construction was made necessary by the width and power of the meandering river here, only a half-mile (1 km) from its mouth. The railway closed in May 1968, but the viaduct can still be crossed on foot. The Speyside Way passes the eastern end of the viaduct.
