A small flat-lying island in the Bay of Firth (Orkney), the Holm of Grimbister lies a half-mile (1 km) northeast of Grimbister and 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of Kirkwall. Extending to 17.8 ha (44 acres), the island rises to only 8m (26 feet). It is farmed and is connected to the Orkney mainland at low tide. The similarly-sized island of Damsay lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the northeast. Uninhabited in 2001, a population of 3 was recorded in 2011.
