A tiny uninhabited island of the Orkney Isles, Linga Holm lies to the west of the much larger island of Stronsay from which it is separated by Linga Sound. Extending to 57 ha (141 acres) and reaching a height of 18m (59 feet) above sea level, it is noted as a wintering ground for Greenland white-fronted geese and as a breeding ground for grey seals. Its grassy swards are also grazed by the rare North Ronaldsay sheep, 150 of which were brought here to form a refuge population by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in 1973. Archaeological remains include prehistoric cairns and a Pictish house.
