St Andrew's RC Church, Dumfries

Two B-listed remnants of the once grand St Andrew's Roman Catholic Cathedral lie mournfully on Shakespeare Street to the southeast of Dumfries town centre. The cathedral was built in 1813, extended 1842-43 (when both towers were added) and extended once again in 1872. The cathedral was destroyed by fire in 1961, leaving the towers isolated. A new modernist church was constructed a short distance back from the road in 1963-64.
