Finlarig Power Station

A power station on the northern shore of Loch Tay, lying just within the western boundary of Perth and Kinross, Finlarig began operations in 1955 as part of the Breadalbane Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. Water descends through an underground tunnel and then a surface pipeline falling a vertical distance of 415m (1361 feet) from Lochan na Lairige - the greatest drop of any Scottish hydro-electric scheme. The station contains a pair of turbines with a combined capacity of 16.5 MW. The plant was refurbished in 2003. The tailrace discharges directly into Loch Tay.
