Broadwood Stadium

A football stadium and sports centre built on a green-field site on the outskirts of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, Broadwood Stadium lies 2½ miles (4 km) west of the town centre. Home of Clyde Football Club, the stadium was built by Cumbernauld Development Corporation in two phases which were completed in 1994 and 1996 respectively. Three stands on the west, east and south side of the pitch together provide a total of 8,029 seats, with potential future expansion for a fourth which would bring capacity to a total of 10,000. The Main stand lies to the east and includes player facilities and changing rooms, press facilities, office accommodation, function suites, bars and meeting rooms which form part of a business suite. An additional full-size synthetic football pitch and four five-a-side pitches are provided beyond the stands, together with a purpose-designed gymnastics centre and leisure centre. A campus of New College Lanarkshire is based here, offering sports-related courses. There is car parking for around 1200 cars and 50 coaches.

Clyde F.C. began at Barrowfield Stadium in the East End of Glasgow in 1877, moving to Shawfield on the opposite side of the River Clyde in 1898. This ground was sold in 1986 and Clyde were forced to share with Partick Thistle at Firrhill for five years and then with Hamilton Academicals at Douglas Park until 1994.

The stadium is now owned and operated by North Lanarkshire Council Learning and Leisure Services.
