Dunbar's Close

One of the passages leading from Edinburgh's Royal Mile, Dunbar's Close lies just to the east of Canongate Church. Today it leads to Dunbar's Close Garden, a hidden gem of the Old Town. Named after the author David Dunbar who owned property here in 1773, there was also an oyster bar here and the poet Robert Burns is known to have visited in 1786.
