Hill of Easterton

A summit in the Formartine district of Central Aberdeenshire, the Hill of Easterton lies a half-mile (1 km) southeast of Cross of Jackston and 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of Oldmeldrum. It comprises three summit which rise to 239m (784 feet), 229m (751 feet) and 213m (698 feet) respectively. Located along the summit ridge are three Vestas V52 wind turbines, each 50m (164 feet) in height and capable of generating 850 kW of power, giving a total output of 2.55 MW. Commissioned in 2007, these are owned and operated by the Mackie's Ice Cream factory, located at Westertown Farm immediately to the south.
