Mossford Power Station

A power station which forms part of the Conon Hydro-Electric Power Scheme, Mossford is located in Lochluichart at the head of Strath Bran, 4 miles (6.5 km) west of Garve in Easter Ross. Water descends from Loch Glascarnoch to the north, through a 5-mile (8-km) long tunnel. Commissioned in 1957, the station was the work of James Shearer (1881 - 1962) and is built in coursed red sandstone. It has an installed generation capacity of 18.7 MW. Water is discharged into Loch Luichart, a reservoir which in turn powers the Luichart Power Station, 5½ miles (9 km) to the southeast.
