Bernera Bridge Standing Stones

(Barraglom, Tursachan, Cleitir, Callanish VIII Stone Circle)

Located immediately to the west of the Bernera Bridge on the south coast of the island of Great Bernera in the Outer Hebrides, the Bernera Bridge Standing Stones (also known as the Barraglom, Tursachan, Cleitir or Callanish VIII Stone Circle) comprises three standing stones arranged in a half-circle, together with a further fallen stone. Their position, on a steep rocky slope ending in a cliff, is unusual. The stones are 2.75m (9 feet), 2.3m (7½ feet) and 0.9m (3 feet) in height, while the fallen stone is 2.5m (8¼ feet).

The site which is considered to be part of the Callanish complex, has been disturbed on several occasions with the installation of utilities to the island, but has been protected as a scheduled ancient monument since 1993.
