Hunter Bridge
A bridge which crosses the River Tweed a half-mile (0.8 km) east of the centre of Kelso, Hunter Bridge is a slender thirteen-span box girder and pre-stressed concrete structure with an aluminium parapet which carries the A968 road over the river bypassing the town centre. It was designed by Blyth & Blyth Consulting Engineers and built 1997-98 at a cost of £3.9 million, reducing congestion through the reliance on John Rennie's bridge of 1804 which had previously been the only crossing of the Tweed in the viscinity.
