Lunna Sound

A large inlet on the NE coast of the Shetland Mainland, Lunna Sound lies between Lunna Ness and Firth Ness, 19 miles (30 km) north of Lerwick. Lunna Sound represents the opening of a collection of smaller inlets; namely Swinister Voe, Dales Voe, Colla Firth, Swining Voe, West Lunna Voe and Boatsroom Voe. Perhaps its most remarkable feature is Fora Ness, located across the mouths of Dales Voe and Colla Firth. This peninsula should really be an island were it not for a tombolo connecting it to the shore.
