Gourock Park

(Darroch Park)

A public park comprising the policies of the former Gourock House, Gourock Park (originally Darroch Park) lies a half-mile (0.8 km) south southeast of the town centre. Duncan Darroch, who made his fortune in Jamaica, bought the lands and barony of Gourock from the Stewarts of Castlemilk in 1784. He built the fine Gourock House near the site of the former Gourock Castle. This house was demolished in the mid-20th century and the land around it given to the town as Darroch Park. A walled garden remains, and other facilities include a pet's corner, bowling club, tennis courts, two grass football pitches, a cricket square, and pavilion with changing facilities.

Gourock Highland Games, takes place here annually on the second Sunday in May.
