Neist Point LighthouseLocated above cliffs on the western shore of Neist Point, a rocky headland which represents the most westerly point on the Isle of Skye, Neist Point Lighthouse lies 2½ miles (4 km) southwest of Milovaig. It was built in 1909 at a cost of £5868, the work of David A. Stevenson (1854 - 1938), and comprises a stubby white tower 19m (62 feet) in height, giving the light an elevation of 43m (141 feet). The light has a range of 16 miles (26 km). A fog horn was added in 1910, although this has subsequently been decommissioned.
The station was automated in 1990 and the adjacent keepers' cottages were sold off. The light is operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board in Edinburgh and the complex has been B-listed since 1971.
