Inchmurrin
An island at the south end of Loch Lomond, Inchmurrin is the largest and most southerly of the islands in the loch. Formerly used as a deer park by the Dukes of Montrose, the island is the site of a ruined former stronghold of the Earls of Lennox and the site of a chapel dedicated to St Mirrin, which gives the island its name. Inchmurrin reaches a height of 89m (291 feet) towards the north and is largely wooded. It is one of three permanently inhabited islands in the loch, and includes a farm, hotel and holiday chalets and the Scottish Outdoor Club, who established a nudist colony here in the 1940s.
