Carn Dearg

A mountain in the SW Grampians, Carn Dearg rises to a height of 941m (3086 feet) to the west of Loch Ericht and to the east of Loch Ossian on the border between Highland and Perth & Kinross Council Areas. With Sgor Gaibhre it forms a rounded massif with a number of open corries known to house some of the largest herds of red deer in Scotland. The name Carn Dearg is derived from the Gaelic for "red hill". The ruins of Corrour Old Lodge lie on its southwestern slopes.
