A headland within Bressay Sound on the east coast of the Shetland Mainland, North Ness lies to the east of Hay's Dock in Lerwick. Once a centre of industry, quays which were part of Lerwick Harbour run along the shore and BP Fuels Oil Depot lies immediately to the south, but the area has been redeveloped as North Ness Business Park. This comprises colourful office buildings built in the Scandinavian style, surrounding the B-listed Gutter's Hut which dates from c.1900. To the west is the Mareel entertainment venue.
