Ebenezer Place

Recognised in 2006 by the Guinness Book of Records as being the shortest street in the world, Ebenezer Place is located between River Street and Union Street in Wick (Highland), immediately to the south of the Wick River. The street is 2.06m (6¾ feet) in length and comprises a single address. It originated with the construction of Mackay's Hotel in 1883 and the Town Council instructed that the short edge of this narrow building be named as a street, which first appears in the records in 1887. The street gained the record after the hotel owner inserted a door-way which became No.1 Ebenezer Place.
