A narrow, deep and turbulent channel which separates Loch Cairnbawn (Loch a' Chairn Bhain) from the junction of Lochs Glendhu and Glencoul, Caolas Cumhann is located a quarter-mile (0.4 km) northwest of Kylesku. A ferry crossed here from the early 19th century but a fine bridge now sweeps across the channel. The current is strong here as the tide pulls a great body of water back-and-forth through this narrow opening.
