Transition Extreme

A sports and recreation centre located on the Queen's Links in Aberdeen, Transition Extreme represents a unique youth based charity and social enterprise which integrates a climbing centre with an indoor skate and BMX park, combined with a basketball court and social spaces for young people. Opened in April 2007, the centre occupies the site of several disused tennis courts opposite the Beach Ballroom. The centre cost £2.7 million, provided by Aberdeen City Council, various charities and commercial sponsors. The basketball court doubles as a dance studio and other facilities include two dedicated band practice studios, space for art, photography and video, together with a visitor centre, pool room, cafe, meetings rooms and a few retail units. The centre is run by a Board, supported by an Advisory Board drawn from local organisations, services and politicians.
