Ceann Ear

The largest of the Monach or Heisker Islands in the Western Isles, Ceann Ear lies 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Aird an Runair, on the west coast of North Uist and has an area of 357 ha (883 acres). The group comprises five uninhabited islands. Ceann Ear is connected at low tide by sandbanks to Shivinish and hence to Ceann Iar, the largest island of the group.
