Jimson's Croft Community Centre

A group of former croft-houses located in the centre of Skerray (N Sutherland, Highland) which were restored through community effort. With traditional turf-thatched roofs, held down by ropes weighted with stones, Jimson's Croft Community Centre now provides a home for the Skerray Historical Society, and its small museum, together with a post office, craft shop and studio. Undertaken in the 1990s, the restoration was funded through the European Regional Development Fund (Highlands and Islands Partnership Programme), Scottish Natural Heritage, the Forestry Commission and many others.
