Cairn Edward

Cairn Edward lies amongst plantation forest at the summit of Cairn Edward Hill, 2½ miles (4 km) south southwest of New Galloway. The cairn is said to commemorate Edward Bruce (c.1280 - 1318), brother of Robert the Bruce, who stood on this hill in 1307 while fighting a campaign against the English in Galloway.
