Hill of Banchory

Hill of Banchory is an extension of the Aberdeenshire village of Banchory, situated a mile (1.5 km) northeast of the centre. Once a significant area of forest, the area was developed as the settlement grew rapidly in the latter years of the 20th C. Facilities have followed: Hill of Banchory Primary School opened in 2006, a large 'eco' superstore in 2010, and a Business Park with adjacent biomass energy centre. Developed from 2008, the energy centre combines wood from a local sawmill with specially-grown willow to provide district heating to the Business Park and more than 100 homes.
