Rising to a height of 1049m (3442 feet) south of Loch Laggan in the Badenoch and Strathspey district of Highland Council Area, the mountain of Geal Charn is classified as a Munro. It has a flat summit with a cairn and an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar. Its steep slopes protect rare alpine plants from grazing animals. These alpines grow in lime-rich mica-schist. There are other mountains named Geal Charn 4½ miles (7 km) to the south southwest, 11 miles (18 km) to the north northeast and 12 miles (19 km) to the north northwest.
