Loch Assynt

A loch in Sutherland, Highland Council Area, Loch Assynt extends for 6 miles (10 km) northwest from Inchnadamph. The ruined castle of Ardvreck stands on a peninsula jutting into the loch. The loch gave its name to the Royal Navy frigate HMS Loch Assynt launched in 1944.
