Loch Mullardoch

A loch and reservoir situated on the border of the Inverness and Skye and Lochalsh districts of Highland Council Area, Loch Mullardooch lies within Glen Cannich, 7 miles (11 km) west of the village of Cannich. Since 1951 it has formed an important storage reservoir within the Affric-Beauly Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. The reservoir was formed from two pre-existing lochs (Mullardoch and Lungard). Mullardoch Dam is 48m (157 feet) high and 727m (2385 feet) in length, and was for many years the longest in Scotland.
