Loch Spallander Reservoir

Loch Spallander Reservoir lies 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Patna and 5½ miles (9 km) east of Maybole in South Ayrshire, not far from the boundary with East Ayrshire. Impounded by an earth embankment dam at its western end and extending to an area of 55.8 ha (137 acres), it is the source of the Spallander Burn that joins the Water of Girvan a mile (1.5 km) northeast of Kirkmichael. It is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water. A waterworks lies just below the dam.
