Water of Allachy

A headstream of the Water of Tanar in the Grampians, the Allachy Water rises in the Aberdeenshire parish of Aboyne and Glentanar. It flows generally northwards towards Deeside from the back of the Hill of Cat on the border between Angus and Aberdeenshire. For most of its course it flows through the Forest of Glen Tanar, joining the Tanar a mile (1.5 km) to the southwest of Glen Tanar House.
