River Laggan

The largest river on the island of Islay in Argyll and Bute, the River Laggan form at the confluence of the Barr River and the Cattadale River, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) west of Cattadale. It meanders southwestward for 10½ miles (17 km) to empty into Laggan Bay, a half-mile (0.8 km) east of the settlement of Laggan. Its principal tributaries are the River Kilennan and then the Duich River. A 2012 survey showed the river supports a healthy population of salmon, together with a few brown trout.
