A partially forested summit lying close to the western border of South Lanarkshire, Hart Hill rises to 396m (1299 feet) 4½ miles (7 km) south southeast of Darvel and a similar distance northeast of Sorn in East Ayrshire. An extensive plantation forest extends northeast from its eastern slopes.
