Garpol Water

A modest river of NE Dumfries and Galloway, the Garpol Water rises as headstreams close to the boundary with South Lanarkshire, to the west of Hangingshaw Hill. Much of the river flows through plantation forest, until it emerges into Annandale 2½ miles (4 km) west southwest of Moffat. It falls into the Evan Water a mile (1.5 km) north northwest of Beattock, having completed a course of 5 miles (8 km). The final stretch of the river descends through waterfalls as it passes through Garpol Glen.
