Water of Minnoch

A river of SW Scotland, the Water of Minnoch rises as headstreams on the western slopes of Shalloch, beyond Waterhead on Minnoch, in the Carrick Forest of South Ayrshire. It flows southwards into the Glentrool Forest and Dumfries & Galloway. It receives the Water of Trool, a mile (1.8 km) east of Glentrool Village, and continues south and then southwest to join the River Cree, 6 miles (10 km) north northwest of Newton Stewart, having completed a course of 15 miles (24 km). Its other main tributaries are the Shalloch Burn, Kirkennan Burn and Kirriemore Burn.
