Barfad Loch

A small artificial water body in the Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Barfad Loch is situated 2 miles (3 km) north northwest of Shennanton. Retained by a modest earth embankment, it was created in the mid-20th C. on the course of a stream which is unnamed on Ordnance Survey maps but is a tributary of the Black Burn. There is a boat-house and the loch provides recreational fishing.
