A little reservoir now surrounded by a plantation woodland, Heathery Dam is situated on the course of the Garroch Race, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) east southeast of Thornhill in E Central Dumfries and Galloway. It is retained by an earthen dam at its southern end and extends to 1.2 ha (3 acres).
