A prominent summit of the Moffat Hills, which lies on the boundary between Dumfries & Galloway and the Scottish Borders, Hart Fell rises to a height of 808m (2651 feet) 5 miles (8 km) north northeast of Moffat and qualifies as a Corbett. Its summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey primary triangulation pillar installed in 1936 for the re-triangulation of Great Britain.
