Rising to on moorland 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Drumclog in South Lanarkshire, the Coldwakning Burn flows east through the settlement of Coldwakning before heading south then north. It joins the Glengavel Water at a point to the north of Gilmourton, having completed a course of 3 miles (5 km).
