Rising in forested land 3 miles (5 km) east of Cairn Table, the Kennox Water flows east then northeast and finally north to flow into the Douglas Water. It joins the Douglas Water a mile (1.5 km) southwest of the settlement of Glespin, South Lanarkshire.
