The Cow Gill starts as runoff streams from the Cowgill Loch and Cowgill Lower Reservoir which merge at Cowgill in South Lanarkshire. As it passes through Cowgill, it flows north and east to join the Culter Water to the south of the peak of Knowe Dod. It has a maximum length of 2 miles (3 km).
