One of a group of small lochs and lochans located on the steeply-sloping southern shore of Loch Ness in Highland Council Area, Lochan a' Chinn Mhonaich lies at an altitude of 155m (508 feet) on the course of a stream which drains Lochan nan Nighean, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Loch Kemp and 2 miles (3 km) west of Whitebridge.
