Soutra Hill

A hill on the border of Midlothian and the Scottish Borders, Soutra Hill rises to 368m (1207 feet) 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Dalkeith. The A68 trunk road climbs steeply over the hill on its route south into Lauderdale. Soutra Hill Quarry reopened for the extraction of road aggregate in 2006 despite concerns about its visual impact. Dun Law, with its wind farm, lies a mile (1.5 km) to the south.
