Sandy Loch Reservoir

A reservoir which supplies drinking water to Lerwick, Scalloway, Quarff and much of the rest of the Mainland of Shetland, Sandy Loch Reservoir is located a half-mile (1 km) west of Sound and 1¼ miles (2 km) west southwest of the centre of Lerwick. Operated by Scottish Water, it is retained by a reinforced concrete dam and occupies an area of 43.7 ha (107 acres).
