Abhainn Mhor

(Abhainn Mhòr)

The only stream named on the Ordnance Survey Landranger map on the island of Hirta in the St. Kilda archipelago, Abhainn Mhor (Gaelic, "big river") hardly lives up to its name! This modest stream rises on the slopes between Mullach Mor and Conachair in the centre of the island and flows south southeast for barely a half-mile (1 km) to fall into Village Bay.
