Bay of Cruden

(Cruden Bay)

An inlet on the North Sea coast of Aberdeenshire, the Bay of Cruden (or often simply Cruden Bay) lies at the mouth of the Water of Cruden and stretches southwards from the Harbour at Port Erroll to a rocky reef known as The Skares. Since 1975 crude oil from the Forties field in the North Sea has been pumped ashore here.
